a reputable agent or consultant for advice.”
Then, proceed with the following:
- Research the area in which you want to buy: look up
the exact location on a map.
- If you can, visit an overseas exhibition to see what
is available and examples of what different developers
are offering.
- Once you decide on a particular development,
research the developer. Check if they have a good track
record.
- Check whether all of the relevant building
permissions have been obtained.
- Check all prices thoroughly. Are there additional
buying costs to the price quoted?
If you visit the country to view the property:
- Ask to see examples of previous projects built by
the developer.
- Find out whether other building work can take place
in the immediate surrounding area that might affect the
development, such as obscuring current views.
- Check the development’s proximity to the local town
/ beach and other facilities, such as transport.
- Ask to see samples of furniture and interior
materials.
- Seek independent legal and financial advice.
