Property in Montenegro
Montenegro is situated on the Adriatic coast, north of
Albania, south of Croatia and opposite the 'heel' of Italy.
It also shares borders with Bosnia-Herzogovina and Serbia.
It is a comparatively small country with an area of 13,812
Km2 and a population of 650,575 (1998 estimate).
As yet Montenegro is a relatively undiscovered jewel off
the beaten track, offering a wealth of stunning scenery,
history and culture. The name Montenegro or Crna Gora,
literally translates as Black Mountain, an apt description
for this beautiful, mountainous country, although down by
the coast the mountains are actually gleaming white.
Buying Property in Montenegro
In order for foreign purchasers to complete a sale,
their country of origin must have a reciprocal agreement
with Serbia & Montenegro. In the case of Britain for example
such an agreement exists.
The selling and buying of properties is without
restriction in Montenegro and is regulated by law and
legally secure. Ownership is guaranteed and in that respect
there are no specific limitations, the only exceptions being
public property i.e. streets, squares, public objects of
special importance etc of which the sale and purchase is not
permitted.
